Foundation
In 1993 The Bar Plan Foundation was established with the goal of promoting and improving ethics and professionalism in the practice of law. The primary means of accomplishing this goal is through the Foundation's Risk Management seminar series, which is currently presented throughout Missouri and Kansas. The Foundation also conducts in-house law firm seminars and participates in state and local bar association conferences. Additionally, the Foundation offers a law firm audit program as well as operates a risk management telephone hot line for lawyers with ethics or malpractice questions. For more information regarding these specific services, please refer to the services section of this website.
The Foundation annually awards scholarships to third-year law students at several law schools. Each candidate must posses the highest degree of professionalism and ethics. The scholarships are funded from income from the risk management seminars and The Foundation's annual golf tournament. Proceeds from the tournament not only fund the scholarships but also enable the Foundation to contribute to various local not-for-profit organizations. Previous recipients have been:
- Our Little Haven
- Court Appointed Special Advocates
- Legal Services of Eastern Missouri
- The Lou Brock Scholarship Foundation
- Habitat for Humanity
