This Year's Beneficiaries
St. Liborius Social MinistriesSt. Liborius Social Ministries was established in 1985, through the generous works of parishioners at St. Genevieve du Bois Parish located in Warson Woods. Their mission was to provide food and other assistance to economically disadvantaged families living within the St. Liborius parish boundaries. In 1992, the St. Liborius Church was closed by the Archdiocese of St. Louis and the parish boundaries of Holy Trinity Catholic Church were re-extended to include residents previously located within St. Liborius boundaries. St. Liborius Social Ministries continued to operate in the basement of St. Liborius Church under the sponsorship of St. Genevieve du Bois Church. This pantry is operated by volunteers; there are no salaried employees associated with St. Liborius Social Ministries.
By partnering with the St Louis Area Food Bank, the food pantry is able to provide meat, perishables and other basic necessities like cleaning supplies to its’ clients. Gently-used household items and clothing are also available through the generous donations of many St. Liborius Social Ministries supporters. A representative from Human Development is available each Thursday to assist clients obtain access to many state and federal programs. Additionally, representatives from Legal Aid of Eastern Missouri are available one Thursday per month to provide free legal assistance to St. Liborius Social Ministries clients.
St. Liborius Social Ministries provides service to 140 -150 families per month. Northland Early Education CenterNorthland Early Education Center was established in 1981 by a group of families who desperately needed quality care for their children with special needs. Currently, NEEC has licensed capacity of 114 children ranging in ages from birth through age 5. They provide quality education and therapy services to children with and without special needs. The Bar Plan FoundationThe Bar Plan Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization, was established with the goal of promoting and improving ethics and professionalism in the practice of law, and to foster a positive relationship between the legal community and the public through education, scholarships and direct services.
The primary means of accomplishing the goals of promoting and improving ethics and professionalism in the practice of law is through the Foundation's Risk Management Seminar Series. Annually, the Series is presented at numerous locations throughout Missouri, Kansas and Indiana. The Foundation is a frequent participant in state and local bar association conferences. In keeping with the Foundation's mission, the programs emphasize risk management awareness and legal ethics and professionalism topics.
To further its mission through scholarship efforts, the Foundation Scholarships were established in 1998. These scholarships, in the amount of $2,500, are available to a third-year law student at each of Missouri's four law schools: the University of Missouri-Columbia; the University of Missouri-Kansas City; Washington University in St. Louis; and St. Louis University.
