The Bar Plan Mutual Insurance Company recently announced the addition of a new Board Member, Michael J. Delaney. Delaney began his insurance career in St. Louis in 1973 and developed a specialty in casualty related claims management. He currently serves as President/CEO of Healthcare Services Group (HSG), a consulting and services company that manages two Jefferson City based medical professional liability insurance companies, Missouri Hospital Plan (MHP) and Medical Liability Alliance (MLA), and an agency/brokerage, Providers Insurance Consultants (ProCon), specializing in the placement of healthcare related insurance products and services.
“Mike has had a very successful career in the insurance industry,” said Karen McCarthy, President & CEO of The Bar Plan. “His experience and perspective will be a valuable asset as we move forward in this competitive marketplace.”
Delaney has been with the HSG companies since 1985, in various capacities, and was elected President of MHP and MLA in 2000. He is on the advisory board of the Missouri Center for Patient Safety, a member of the Hospital Insurance Forum and assisted the Missouri Bar from 1990 to 2000 as an arbitrator/mediator in its Fee Dispute Resolution Program.

Delaney resides in Jefferson City with his wife, Judy, and son, Sean, and has two daughters, Meghan and Courtney, who reside in Chicago and Atlanta.
